Hamster Vomit?

My friend's hamster thew up yesterday, and I was wondering what may cause her to throw up. She is really worried and is wondering if she might die or if she is sick. Any help is appreciated.

Are you sure the hamster threw up, or was the hamster simply removing stored food from her cheek-pouches?
Hamsters and other rodents have pouches in their cheeks. Syrian (golden, teddy bears, etc) hamsters are originally from the Syrian desert. They have evolved in a climate that doesn't have a lot of vegetation so the animals would have to wander for long distances to collect food. For this reason, hamsters have a lot of energy (running on wheels) and will store food in their cheep pouches. When they reach their nest, they will push the food out of their pouches and it does look like they are throwing up.
My understanding is that hamsters can't throw up. They have a different digestion system than we do. Another exciting thing that hamsters will do is occasionally eat their poo. Because of their tiny digestive systems, their body cannot absorb all the nutrients, so in the same idea as cows and other ungulants chewing their cud to have a 2nd go at absorbing nutrients, hamsters and other rodents will snack on their poo.
yum yum
She might of just ate something that messed with her insides and just threw it up. She might be okay, but if she starts to stop eating or drinking take her to a vet ASAP! She might die. Hope everything goes okay. Trust me, I'm a vet.
Are you sure it actually threw up? It could have actually just emptied its pouches in it's mouth
i used to have a female hamster, and it was a bit old. she threw up for two days and i wasn't allowed to brign ti to the vet. i don't know why she vomited, but she lost weight and i accidentally put her on her back when i put her down, and it took longer for her to get back on to her four feet. so if your friend's hamster has trouble getting on balance, tell her to put the hamster on it's back, or if it's lethargic, it's probably going to die in a few days. and if it doesn't drink or eat. and loss of weight.
Are you sure it was'nt just removing food from its cheek pouches and just looked like she was throwing up?
If not, your friend should be worried. I have never heard of a hamster actually being sick, it tends to effect their bottoms if they have an pset belly. The only advice i can give is for your friend to get her hamster to the vet ASAP.
