Help My Hamster won't Drink or eat?

I bought A Hamster On Friday And Left Him Alone To Let Him get Used to His New Home But i Don't Think He Is Drinking His Water It Hasnt Lost a drop since friday and He Keeps on Kicking His Bedding in His food
Answers:
its called suicide. im soooo sorry
Starve it and then he'll see how lucky he is to get food.
Try hand feeding.
you can put a little water in a container and put it on the cage floor to see if its drinks from that.
Kicking bedding into the food isnt a problem , he will still find the food.
Hamsters LOVE cabbage and lettuce and it's very good for them. Give him a small piece. If he doesn't eat it, something is wrong.
When he starts eating normally, still give him cabbage or lettuce every day (small piece.)
Kicking his bedding into his food isn't a problem, alot of hamsters move thier bedding around, or take food out of thier bowl and hide it around thier cage. It may be that you just haven't noticed the water level change- they don't drink ALOT, probably not enough for you to notice the difference. But yes, put a small piece of the watermelon in it's cage and see if it eats it. Also, the lettuce that someone else mentioned is a good idea. If he really isn't eating/drinking, try taking it to a vet to see what's wrong.
Are you SURE your hamster isn't eating or drinking? They tend not to drink too much and do hide their food in corners of their habitat, digging them up later as they would in the wild. Hamsters also dig in their litter and throw it around when doing so. They dig and such because it's an inherited feature from when their ancestors were in the wild. Now, on to your questions: How are you presenting the food and water? Is it the same as the way they did in your 'ster's previous home? (Ex. If you 'ster was used to drinking from a water bottle that hangs on the side of his/her enclosure, have you put in such a hanging water bottle? Did the hamster have vitamins in his/her water before and you're not putting them in now, and vice versa?) Did you call the pet store where you bought him/her to ask if there was anything you're doing now that he/she was not used to? What about the food? Try finding out what food they feed it at the pet store and buying that. Perhaps a seed treat may help. Fresh veggies or a thin slice of fruit is good also, but these must be kept to a minimum or else your pet will REALLY become sick from the almost always fatal hamster diarrhea, "wet tail." If his/her condition does not change for the better, your pet may be ill. Might have lice or fleas or something. Do you see any creepy crawlies on the inside of the pet's enclosure? Check closely, but be careful that (in case this is what's happening) YOU don't get infested. If the little one IS infested, take him or her to the vet immediately! In any case, if the 'ster does not improve, a visit to the doctor might be what's needed.
the first few days i had my hamster i was terrified, i never saw him drink! i'm not sure if he never drank out of hte bottle (i never saw him) but i didn't want to take chances, so i got him a little dish of water. i'm sure hes drinking, if you're not positive get him a little dish and keep hte bottle, give him choices. about the food...make sure you feed him a small amount at the same time every day. hamsters like to gather their food and hide it in little corners (hoarding) to eat for later. its instinct to hide their food, they're trying to protect it! kicking bedding is normal. they're just burrowing and having fun.
I reccomend feeding slowly by hand, and every time he geats a piece of food, congrajulate him. We did that to our dog and it worked
The people who are saying that your hampster is trying to kill himself is not true, hampsters dont do that. Yes, watermelon is a very god source of water. But don't give it too much. It probably is just a bit frightened. The bedding in his food is fine. but maybe hang like a carrot on the side of the cage, or try a new type of food. Good luck.
th ething i want to know is if hes old or not? i had a hamster and he was a golden one and he stoped eating and drinking water and he slowly started to die but he was like 3years old,
just keep the food bowl full and change the water every day, it will start using them, maybe it only does when you are not around, they sleep all day.
