Could be something called Wet Tail that they can get sometimes. It's a bacterial stomach infection. Look it up, maybe the symptoms fit. Regardless I'm sure it's not your fault. Please don't blame yourself. Hamsters tend to die quickly and for seemingly unexplained reasons. Good luck!
maybe she eaten too much
she probably was sick
I think, you over fed your hamster.
I had the same problem. He probably died of natural causes
Don't know how old your hamster was but it might just have died of old age (2 years).
You must have loved your hamster because you were crying, maybe you did nothing wrong and hamster just passed away naturally.
how old was your hammie?? On average hamsers on ly live about 2-3 years, some a bit longer but not much
you thibnk you have it bad. I nearly lost a testicle the other day
All I know is nature took it's course and it was not your fault. Just if you think about getting another hamster disinfect the cage just in case it was contagious. And Nettie is SO wrong Wet Tail is not a stomach thing it's diarrhea. And diarrhea is DEADLY to hamster and if it had wettail the whole somach or at least most of it would be yellow from the diarrhea.
i can tell u one thing she died becuase she was cold. doesn't blue with a black tummy give you a hint. so yes she was cold, did you leave the air on while you were gone? retrace your steps and serchyour house, maybe she was just old.
In my experiance it doesnt sound like you did anything wrong.
Hamsters dont usually overeat unless its over a long period, it is more likely to store the food away somewhere for later.
Once it dies its body will get cold , same temperature as the room its in, and skin looks blue because the oxygen in the blood that makes ir red is gone.
This doesnt really help you know what happened though. :(
First, let me tell you that I feel your pain! I have had many hamsters and have cried hysterically when each of them died, although I currently have a new hamster. Now, there are a few ways a hamster could have died. When your hamster was alive, did it always have a wet tail and butt? If it did, then it had a disease called wet tail, which is a common disease in hamsters. Unfortunately, there is not a cure for wet tail (they pick it up from the litter they were with at the pet store usually), so there would have been nothing you could have done to help it. I don't think you could have fed it too much, because hamsters will usually pick what they want to eat and leave what they don't want/need. Also, if you put too many hamster vitamins in its water bottle or put red cedar wood chips in its cage , it could have been poisened. The only other way it could have died is if it had a heart attack or choked on its food. If you get a new hamster though, examine the litter it was from and check if any of the hamsters have wet tail. If they do, do not buy a hamster from that litter. Also when you feed your hamster try dumping out the old rotten food to discourage germs and clean its cage at least once every 2 weeks. Hope this helps!
