Has anyone ever had a rat stop herself from having babies?

my question is my rat has not been with a male for over 5 weeks is it posible for a rat to stop them self from having babies if they are sick as my rat had 10 babies after 5 weeks
Answers:
yes a rat can store her fertilised eggs during a period of time when she feels she isnt ready ie. stressed etc. so obviously your rat did this due to a house move or whatever and then when she settled down she must of implanted the fertilised eggs and allowed them to begin growing. rabbits and all sorts of animals can do it. good luck with your 10 little ones! xxxx
A rat storing her fertilized eggs? That's new to me...
Rats are breeders. They can have babies under the most unusual circumstances, they just need to be knocked up. I hope your girlierat isn't sick... maybe a tumor? =(
i've had this problem once with my oldest female rat, and it happens to be that she went through menopause or something because she's unable to have babies now because of her older age. also, if a female rat isn't getting along with the male rat, she might decide to abort because he's stressing her out too much.
i've had two female rats together with my male rat for awhile because i thought that both of the females wouldn't have babies, but when i took the male rat out, my younger female rat proved that she could have a littler and i guess that maybe if you took out you male rat she's have babies if he's stressing her out too much because male rats honestly love sex alot more then female rats...
and also remember to practice good breeding ethics (as in giving them proper care and being respinsible with finding the babies homes, ect)
