Imagine this. You are tiny. This humongous thing tries to pick u up. You r scared and decide to bite. That is exactly what your hamster thinks. Instead of picking up you hamster like a predator would pick it up let the hamster crawl into something to get it out of the cage. Hamsters are naturally curious so put an interesting tube or lour it w/ a favorite treat. Then after your dwarf comes out of the cage put your the tube or whatever on you hand so it will crawl out. Then gently stroke it and speak quietly. This may sound dumb, but try laying down in a bath tub w/ drain shut and put your hamster w/ u. Let it crawl over you. If it comes nears your try gently scooping it up w/ your hands. So your hamster wont bite you unless it is scared.
Good Luck!
I HAVE NO IDEA I HAVE A RUSSIAN AND HE DOES THAT TOO!GR MEAN HAMSTER!
Lol, my hamster does that all the time. Don't worry; just be abit more gentle with him.
How old is he? How long have you had him? Clearly he has developed a way to get what he wants. You must have started out handleing him, but he did not like that and bit you, so you put him down. He learns that he wins if he bites. You have to be persistant. Hold him, but only set him down when he calms down a bit or is not biting you. It will take soem trys, but he'll get it eventually. The more you hold him, and only release him when he's not so visious, the more he will learn that biting does not work, and the more he will get used to being picked up. Wear gloves if you have to.
He might just be annoyed if you play with him too often or disturb him when he is sleeping. My hamster [russian d/] never bites me unless I bother it but that was only once. If you keep trapping it when it wants to walk or run around, it can get aggressive. It also only bites my brother because it isn't used to someone else.
just leave him alone for a little while I'm sore he'll stop.
He feels threatened, it's not uncommon for Hamsters to bite though. Was he awake when you went to pet him? If not I've heard Hammies do not like to be woken up, but who can blame them? They're going by instinct.
there are many resons why ur hamster keep biting maybe you bother it too much while it sleep maybe you were rough on it did u feed it? maybe it so nevorus that i thought u gonna kill him or he just aggressvie
russian hamsters are not really friendly
He might be still getting use to you. My hamster that ive had for a few months still is scared of me at times. I would try and feed it some treats and that might get him to like/trust you more. Also try to handle it everyday...even if it is just for a few min. So he can get get a good smell of you and know who you are. Also before you handle him let him know you are there and let him smell you. For hamsters cant see very well!

Good luck
just keep on playing with him.he'll get used to your presence.be patient.
