My hamsters teeth are a little longer than the vet would like them. We called the vet and they want 65.00 to clip them... Can I do this with a nail clipper? I know you can with rabbits..PLEASE HEEELP =]

There are plenty of 'chew toys' on the market for hamsters. Wooden blocks... grinding wheels... fruitwood twigs ( my hammy loved those ! )... If provided the proper tools, the hamster will take care of the problem themself. Keep in mind that it takes a little time for them to wear the teeth down to a safe length. I would NOT clip them. Firstly the charge amount is ridiculous... and secondly, they are not like dog or cat claws... Imagine someone taking a pair of clippers to your own teeth... not very pleasant sounding, is it ?
Put some hardwood in his cage to chew, a small piece of ply wood works good.
i think you should let the vet do this u wouldn't want to hurt the hamster they r 2 different animals
No, don't do them yourself! People shouldn't trim rabbit's teeth themselves either. Just call around vets and find one that'll do it cheaper.

Yes, I clip my rabbits teeth (only if needed) with a pair of very small wire cutter type, with the spring back handle, however this may still be to big for a hamster, if it is not taken care of the teeth will grow into the brain, nail clippers may be to awckward and large also. Make sure it always has wood to chew on.
i have seen responses on here where owners have done, but as a hamster owner myself i would not risk it. They are delicate creatures and i would not want to harm my pet in any way. Check out several other vets in your local area and ask for a specialist vet for small animals as they will charge less, or check vet quotes in general. Either way, dont risk your hamsters health by doing something you are not trained or qualified in please!!
What I would do is go to a pet store or daily store were pet things are sold and look for corn cobs my hamsters love them it keeps there teeth at a good size it also keeps them non sharp
