I have a panda bear hamster right now, but I am thinking of getting two dwarf hamsters and putting them in my 10 gallon tank. i know everything about them, but i was wondering if i can put them in the same room. like hammy (panda bear) on one side of the room and the two other hamsters on the other side. i dont want hammy to be stressed or discomforted in my house. what should i do?
Answers:
The same room is fine, after a while, I suggest keeping your new hamsters in a different room for a while , for quarantine time, to make sure they dont have anything that could be given to your panda bear hamster. After that, they'll be fine, just as long as you dont put them all in the same cage together. Your hamster isnt going to be able to see them across the room. Hamsters have terrible eyesight.
Your panda hamster should not feel stressed around other types of hamsters but if you want to put tem acroos from each other that should be fine
i think it would be defenetly alright because when i had two hamsters in different cages they were right next to eachother on a desk and they were completely fine about it.
hope i helped!
Yeah, thats fine! I keep my two gerbils, and mouse all in the same room, the computer room. Which I'm in now, they don't even seem to know that the others exists.
hey, I have two hamsters (one black bear syrian and one siberian dwarf, separate cages of course!) and I keep their cages on shelves: the dwarf gets the top shelf and the syrian gets the shelf below...also, a ten gallon tank is not that much space for two dwarfs (the minimum floor space requirement for a dwarf is 18 inches by 12 inches), most hamster cages on the market (especially crittertrail cages) would not be big enough for a hamster unless you had several cages hooked together, is there any chance you could get a fifteen or twenty gal tank instead?
I used to have two critter trails connected to a ten gallon tank for each of my hamsters until I learned about bin cages, have you considered making a bin cage? bin cages are easy to make, usually half the price of a store bought cage, lightweight, practically escape proof, easier to clean, and offer alot more room for the hamster!
here are some links on bin cages:

and if you're not very handy-you can pay someone else to make a bin cage for you:

you might want to keep a third cage available in case your dwarfs start fighting and need to be separated (it happens)
just as long as all the hamsters in the house are not sickly or contagious then the hamsters can have cages right next to each other (just as long as the cages are all escape proof and, if you have wire cages, the hamsters can reach each other through the wires)...your hamsters will not be stressed by this (think about how breeders and pet stores keep hamsters...the cages all right by each other, just as long as they can't reach each other then they will ignore each other)
remember to wash your hands before touching your hamsters especially if you just touched one and are going to touch another because if you smell like the other hamster they may think you are another hamster invading their space and attack your hand. Having more hamsters is fine: I hang out on an awesome hamster forum where people own a dozen hamsters and keep all their cages in the same room! (and these people know hamsters-some have been hamster owners since before I was born, some are breeders, some are just kids who know a lot about hamsters! Most of them have bin cages)
have fun with your new dwarfs!
oh yeah, thats ok as long as they are not in the same cage.
yes i have 3 syrians all in my bedroom spaced out across from each other.
