I was going to ask my friends for a hamster for my birthday, but was wondering... how much would a teddy bear hamster be??
Answers:
Not much, like $5 MAYBE $10 tops. But you also need the cage and food and liner so that might run your costs up quite a bit.
about $40 @ petsmart
$7+
dont go 2 the big pet stores.
just go 2 a simple neighborhood pet shops.
they're cheaper %26 they have a bigger selection
A teddy bear hamster is about $15 where i got one. But, it really depends on the place you get it from. Some pet stores are more expensive than others
$10-$15 but cages are expensive, food is about $5 per bag, water bottles can be up to $5
at pet land $7
at petco $20
so it varies
however you should keep in mind that the cheapest part of owning a hamster is the actual hamster
cages cost from $20-$50
toys are EXPENSIVE I just got two hammies back in Jan and for two cages and all the necessary toys for climbing, hiding, and chewing it was about $75 per hammie (so $150 for both of them-not including cages and tubes-the cage and toys are necessary, the tubes are not)
you also need to spend an extra $20-$40 depending on where you shop on food, bedding, and treats (you have to have at least one kind of treat so that the hammie can form bonds via hand feeding, I suggest fresh cabbage for less than $5 at the grocery store you can get a whole head and feed the hammie a couple pieces about the size of a quarter every night. Cabbage is a good prevention method for wet tail which tends to strike whenever a hammie is moved from one cage to another, or has it's cage cleaned, or is bought from the pet store and brought home: wet tail is deadly so cabbage is a good thing to give them)
I also strongly recommend getting the hammie a roll-a-bout ball ($7)so they can exercise outside of the cage AND a wheel is a must have!(another $7) A hammie without a wheel can become overweight, depressed, and not live long from lack of exercise
this is all stuff that you need! Hammies need toys to chew and hide in otherwise they get stressed and wet tail is more likely to occur...remember wet tail is deadly so prevent it by hand feeding the hammie with fresh cabbage
think about this thoughtfully...do not be careless...hamsters require daily play and handling otherwise they start to bite and get scared easy and they can live 3 to 5 years depending so it is a commitment; and they can get pricey over the years as they need more food and more bedding and new chew toys...plus they are mostly nocturnal so you need to be prepared to be kept up at night (get a silent spinner wheel for this reason) they need fresh food and water daily and they should have their cages cleaned once to three times a week depending

good luck; and maybe cages and toys is a present your more finacially stable parents can get you rather than your friends...but your friends can still get you the hammie...you should probably go with to the store to pick out the right one for you
good luck and happy early birthday-hope this helps!
black bears 20, shorthaired 10, long 10-15 teddy covers several types, generally 10-20 dollars, plus cage food bedding, use only aspen or super shavin's low in oils and dust so they don't get respiratory problems.
at Petco, the Teddy Bear hamsters are 8.99
At my local SuperPetz, a teddy bear hamster would be about $10 to $15 dollars.
I depends where you live um but i would have to say 5 to 10 or 15 dollars
