Hamster or ferret??

should i get a hamster or a ferret for a pet ??
Answers:
I have both a hamster and ferrets. It depends what you're looking for. Ferrets live for longer but they smell really bad and are harder to take care of. Hamsters are easier to take of %26 don't smell as bed, but they only live up to 3 years. Hope that helps =)
Ferrets are probably more fun, but they cost a lot more.
Its depends on how much work and training you wan to have to do. Ferrets are cute but very hard to manage because they urinate on themselfs all the time. You have to train them. Hampsters i am not sure about. Its is mainly your own choice.

It depends on how long you are looking to have this pet for. Hamsters generally don't live that long. However, ferrets can live up to 10 years. How strong is your commitment to this pet? And yes, price is another big factor.
That depends on how much time and money you're willing to invest. A hamster is low maintenance and costs very little. They only live a few years so it's not too much of a long term commitment. Ferrets on the other hand are much more expensive, require lots of handling and attention (especially when young) and live a long time. If you're not used to having pets you should go with the hamster.
I like ferrets better but they aren't like hamsters, you cant just leave then in a cage, they need to be taken out daily and played with. It depends on how much time you have. Ferrets are also a lot more expensive with the cage, 6 month vet check ups and everything. They are worth it tho :) good luck
Well it depends on how much commitment you want to put into the pet. A hamster is WAY easier to care for than a ferret. Their living space requirements are very different (hamster can have an aquarium or a premade hamster cage relatively cheap, a ferret needs a large cage and lots of playtime outside of their cage), their nutrition is totally different (hamsters primarily herbivores, ferrets carnivores, both have food at petstores though), ferrets also require regular vet care and in most states its required that they get vaccinations just like a dog or a cat. A ferret will need lots of interaction with you and plenty of playtime outside of it's cage to keep it happy. They also can and will get into anything and everything in your home so it's important to keep an eye on them while they are out and try to "ferret-proof" your home as best you can. They can't run around in one of the little balls like a hamster can for excersize. I would really look into both as pets b/c they are really very different.
Ferret:
Pro:
-Fun to play with
Con:
-Smell worse than hamsters
Hamster:
Pro: Fun to handle and play with
Con: Gives out nips occaisonally when frightened.

Hoped I helped a bit!
ferret, hamster's bite hard
go to http://www.hamsterhideout.com/ and ferrets tear up the place get a hamster
Ferrets smell most people won't tell you that but they do. Hamsters bite...i personally hate them. So may i suggest a Rat.they don't smell, don't bite, very smart, it just takes some people time to get over the tail :)
ok a hamster http://www.hamsterhideout.com/ will tell you everything and well ferrets put holes in the wall and mess up your whole entire house hamsters dont mess up everything in your house
I love ferrets but have three hamsters and they are my babies!I love them they are so fun!I suggest the long haired FEMALE hamsters.dwarf hammys are cute but not as fun...and hamsters are so much less expensive!I hope you get a hamster and love it!Be careful though they are very fragil animals because they are so small!get a hamster and name it Twix...thats a great name for a hammy.have a great time!
It depends a lot on what kind of pet you are looking for. Hamsters and ferrets are VERY different. Ferrets will require a lot more time, space, and money. They also need shots every once in a while and have a longer life span. Hamsters are way lower maintenence and don't need as much space. Ferrets are probably more playful and "exciting" but they also take a LOT more work!
hamster... I have ferrets.. there alot of work and they smell awful, and they poo alot.. Get the hamster.
As others have pointed out, ferrets are a bigger responsability. I never planned on having a ferret, but ended up emergency adopting him from some teenagers that were mistreating him.
Keeping him healthy and comfortable with the right foods, snacks, flea drops, toys, blankets...etc.can be both costly and time consuming. For example, they cant spend all day in the cage (no matter how big it is) so you need to take your ferret out and walk it or play with it.or just let it run around and release its curiosity and energy. But they are really dangerous because they fit into any and every small space available. This includes behind fridges, computers, imbatween the inner and outer lining of a washing machine (my ferret did this once)..you have to ferret proof your house or keep an extra watch cuz they also eat rubber and steal things to store them away in a secret hide out some where..(like in the INSIDE of your couch).
These things can be super cute but maybe annoying at the same time depending on your mood. So just make sure you are a good pet owner that will love your ferret enough to put it first when you dont feel like it, instead of being in love with the IDEA of having a ferret, and then having to get rid of it when these things happen.
