Hamster..?

i've heard of people potty trainer their hamster with the hamster litter boxes and stuff but how do they know i want them to use it i've had hamsters before but i never taught them to use a litter box and im getting a new one next week and i just need to know how i teach my new hamster ow to use the litter box
Answers:
hamster litter (super pet potty litter) is specially formulated so that the hamster will instinctively know to use the litter box; however to help your hamster understand to use the litter box, you need to take one of their poops and put it on top of the litter in the box; both of my hamsters are litter box trained and I can tell you from experience that they like the covered litter boxes and not the corner pan with no cover; you still have to clean their cage out as often as you would without a litter box, so don't get it thinking it will cut down on cage cleaning-it doesn't because the hamster always has urine in their hair and when they walk around the cage they get the urine all over the bedding in the cage, having a litter box trained hamster is pointless but funny to talk about! And it's easy to train your hamster to use the litter box: wait until after the first time you clean their cage and then when you change all the bedding, take a couple of poops out and put them on top of the litter in the box in the clean cage so that they understand to go there (if you're not sure then read the back of the super pet potty litter box and it will tell you what to do, remember to only use hamster litter because cat or rabbit litter is not safe for the hamster!)
Hamsters usually don't need potty training. They usually have a favorite corner that they will always to return to for their potty area.
all you have to do is put it in a corner where they poop because hamsters usually have a pooping corner.
hamsters usually pick one little corner to use as their toilet and don't really need to be potty trained.
if you decide to, you can get a small pan from the pet store or a little thing that looks like this http://source-www.petco.com/assets/produ... when you're cleaning their cage (or any time, but it's easiest when you're cleaning), find out where they've chosen to make their toilet and put it there..
some get it, some don't.
You can put the potty with some sand or other potty litter (different from what's in the rest of the cage, and I personally don't trust what they sell as potty litter) in a corner of the cage. There's no garantee that's where the hamster will pee initially. The next step is to figure out where your hamster is peeing, put a little of the soiled bedding in the potty to give the hamster a scent clue that this is what the funny little thing is for, and put the potty where the hamster was using as a bathroom. Some hamsters figure it out fairly quickly, and this makes cleanning easy. Just clean the potty every day or two, and the cage hardly gets dirty. They'll still leave poops elsewhere, so you still need to clean the whole cage regularly. Some hamsters never do figure out what the potty is for and find other creative uses for it.
Your hamster has a favorite potty corner.
Put the litter box in that corner with poop and bedding soaked with his pee in it. (it sounds gross, but it works) :) lol
But yeah it should work.
Best of luck

There is something that you buy at a pet shop that is a hamster potty. As for training it don't need any. the potty has a smell that hammys love and that will train them.
Best of luck.
