Ok i just noticed a few minutes ago that my male russian hamster(or somthing like that) has a gloopy eye!its only in one eye and its kinda clearish yellow.his eye with the gloop is just a little bit closed than the other.and i wont lie,cuz its been a while since i cleaned the cage.so im gonna do that after i ask this.whats wrong with him.PLease help :(!!
Vets?Breeders?Anyone!!
Does he have a cold or dieing?what can i do?Im the only one in the family that cares about him and my family wont take him to the vet or buy him medicin if he needs it.Help PLease!
Will it clear on its own?I have to leave tomorrow so i cant watch him.Everything is normal other than the eye too.
Answers:
clean the cage and around the eye then put him in the sink w/ a little bit of water just to cover his feet he will want to clean himself then and his/her paws will be clean hopefully its nothing but vet have a white tube with a yellow stripe for eye ointment see if u can get any and yes ur hamster can feel the irritation and notice he cnt c as clearly
oh, he prolly doesn't even notice it.
well it isnt life threatening, but you should take a wet wash cloth and while being VERY careful clean it off. do that daily till it stops.
Exactly what "bunny" said.
Put him in the bathroom sink with water to about his feet. Take a warm cloth, wipe his eye, then let him sit in the water for a few minutes. He'll clean himself, and that should help.
If it doesn't, call the vet yourself and just see if there is anything that you can buy in pet stores for this. Or, call the pet store and ask what they recommend. They should hook you up with something if they're experienced. (Although a lot of pet store employees aren't)
Best of luck with your hammy鈾モ櫏

OMG THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME! THIS IS IMPORTANT.IF U DONT TAKE HIM TO THE VET, HE WILL DIE SOON!
Go to the vet PRONTO and have the vet cut his teeth. not u,ok?! cuz the mouth eye and nose are all connected so his teeth are growing through the roof of his mouth so now all the puss is coming out! omg when that happened,my little bubbles died withing 5 hours.

R.I.P.

BLESS HIS LITTLE HEART!
When my kitten had that problem I called the vet and the nurse there gave me great advise. She said to dissolve salt in warm water and clean out the eye three times a day. i used clean cotton wool and i never dipped the used cotton wool back in the container so i could use it next time. make new solution each time. This worked for two kittens and two cats. there was the one time that it didn't work for my cat and i took her to the vet and she was given eye drops that had to be put into her eyes five times a day. i worked full time so I did three times a day weekdays and five times on the weekends. The vet said that any problems with the eyes should never be left untreated as it can cause damage to their eye sight. I am gessing you could use it for your hamster but you could call the vet and speak to soemone there about it. they may give you the same advise or they may have something different to tell you to try.
My bunny gets what you said often we give him people eye drops and it clears it up for a little while.
Not to worry, use saline water to drip in his eye, it will kill germs, as well, as clean its injured part :)
Good Luck :)
